A total of 42 journalists from 23 different countries applied for a grant during the first application round of Journalismfund.eu’s Connecting Continents grant programme. The second round is open now and ends on August 17th.

Journalismfund.eu and the European Centre for Press and Media Freedom announce a new, Europe-wide grant programme aimed at providing funds for journalists to investigate breaches of freedom of expression or press freedom in Europe.

In 2013, a team of seven journalists from across Europe set out to document how many migrants were actually dying on their way to Europe every year. Their findings proved to be significantly higher than what had been previously known and publicised. A catastrophe of this dimension grabbed the media’s attention for a while and won the sympathy of the general public.

BUCHAREST - The South East Europe Media Organisation (SEEMO) published a 'Safety Net Manual - Guidelines for Journalists in Extraordinary or Emergency Situations'.

PARIS - French journalist Prune Antoine has been awarded the Prix Louise Weiss for European Journalism for her story on organ trafficking in Kosovo, supported by Journalismfund.eu. The prize is awarded every year to French-speaking, European journalists.

BRUSSELS - A new year often makes for the perfect moment to glance back at past work. For Journalismfund.eu 2014 proved a year of consolidation and continued growth with a record amount of grant money allocated.

BRUSSELS – Journalismfund.eu is proud to announce that it’s been given a grant of about €190,000 by Open Society Foundations to continue its mission of promoting quality and in-depth journalism in Europe.
