EUROPE - They are everywhere. They don't understand. They're good-for-nothings. They're a danger, a plague, a disgrace. In The Indecent, Jan Antonissen goes in search of the people who are being looked at with contempt : the frightened white men and women, the racist vote of the populists, the white trash from our suburbs.

They are fellow citizens for whom globalization is not an amusement park, with fun city trips and well-paid knowledge work. Antonissen finds those losers in the many old industrial basins in Europe, from the Ruhr region to Limburg, and from northern France to the Po valley.

The Indecent is a road movie in which everyone will recognize a piece of themselves. Everyone sometimes looks at the future with fear. The people who have the misfortune to tumble from the middle class about no one cares anymore. Jan Antonissen notes their brutal life stories and describes how many of them continue to fight to survive.
