Since 1998, the leading French-language media outlet for South-East Europe.

Le Courrier des Balkans was launched in September 1998 by French historian and journalist Jean-Arnault Dérens. The site has developed as an information portal seeking to provide French-language news and analysis from the democratic press in the countries of south-east Europe: Slovenia, Croatia, Bosnia-Herzegovina, Serbia, Montenegro, Macedonia, Kosovo, Albania, Bulgaria, Romania, Moldova, Greece and Turkey.

Working with the major Balkan newspapers, Le Courrier des Balkans works with a regional network of correspondents and translators, offering readers the views and analyses of Balkan citizens on their own news, in the style of Courrier international.

By 2023, it boasts more than 15,000 online articles and 400,000 page views every month. Its twice-weekly regional news bulletin is received by more than 5,600 subscribers.
