Luke Butterly is a freelance investigative journalist in Belfast.

He reports on politics and social affairs for local and international media, including The Detail, the Irish Times, and Al Jazeera

Luke is interested in data tools and freedom of information requests, and has worked on investigations about policing, migration, and the environment. A recent series on policing in Northern Ireland led to official recommendations for changes in police conduct.

He is currently completing a reporting fellowship with the Social Change Initiative on migration in Northern Ireland.
