Alfred Hackensberger is a freelance reporter working for WELT.

He is covering Eastern Europe and the Middle East and is an experienced war reporter as well as investigative reporter. He has lived in Munich, Hamburg, New York, Beirut, Lanzarote and Tangier.

Alfred Hackensberger has published several books, both fiction and non-fiction (Misconceptions of Islam 2008; Letzte Tage in Beirut, Krimi, based on the assassination of Rafik Harari, 2014). He has experience as a book editor and has taught journalism, English and German for many years.
