AMSTERDAM - What images are associated with fertility, masculinity and fatherhood in society? In 'Mannen die zwijgen' (Men Who Remain Silent), Tomas Vanheste explores the stigma attached to male fertility issues, examining possible causes and treatments.

When Tomas Vanheste discovered that he and his partner were unable to conceive, he found it difficult to talk about it. Why did it bother him so much? What societal images exist around fertility, masculinity, and fatherhood?

In Mannen die zwijgen, Vanheste examines the stigma surrounding male fertility problems, exploring potential causes and treatments. Do healthier lifestyles really improve sperm quality, and do hormone disruptors reduce sperm count?

Through conversations with scientists, doctors and writers, Vanheste explores the topic of male infertility in a direct and insightful manner.
