Götheborgske Spionen is a non-partisan and non-religious online magazine aimed at students and staff at the University of Gothenburg. It is published by Tidningsföreningen Götheborgske Spionen. The head of the association is GUS, the University of Gothenburg Student Union.

Götheborgske Spionen has been monitoring and describing the situation of students for 70 years, first at the University of Gothenburg, then at the University of Gothenburg. The name Götheborgske Spionen has a long history. In 1766-1773, a gossip magazine with that name was published, and when the Student Union of the Faculty of Philosophy started its student newspaper in 1936, they chose to call it Götheborgske Spionen, or in popular parlance - Spionen.

The Spy has a completely independent economy and is run entirely with funds from advertising revenue and subscriptions. The editorial team is independent of both the board and the principal, and the editor-in-chief and publisher are responsible for all editorial material.
