PRESShub was launched in 2018, by Freedom House Romania, and it is a media platform that aims to restore the dignity of the journalistic profession by promoting excellence in journalism. It is today the most widespread press network in the country, with 38 media outlets covering over 70% of the Romanian territory collaborating with the platform.
PRESShub aims to be a pivotal center for journalists and to contribute to the highest standard of reporting, through training and mentoring digital and investigative journalism skills, disseminating local reporting at a national level, and providing the go-to platform for contemporary skilled professionalization of our journalism community.
Environment and climate change are among PRESShub's main areas of interest, in line with European priorities on carbon reduction and considering that Romania is a problematic country from this perspective.
This year Freedom House Romania published a series of investigations on the deforestation of the virgin forests in Romania. In the past, they also organised training with journalists on environmental issues.
