Facta is an independent Italian fact-checking and debunking platform, dedicated to monitoring, verifying, and debunking disinformation across a wide range of domains, including science, health, climate, migration, and online trends.

Facta is launched in April 2020 and part of The Fact-Checking Factory Srl (TFCF), which also manages the political fact-checking project Pagella Politica. It is registered as a news outlet with the Tribunal of Milan (n.56, 8 March 2021).

The newsroom operates independently, maintaining editorial autonomy without influence from political groups, authorities, or major media investors. Facta is a certified signatory of the International Fact-Checking Network (IFCN) Code of Principles since March 2021 and a founding member of the European Fact-Checking Standards Network (EFCSN), where it contributed to shaping professional integrity standards for fact-checking in Europe.
Facta combines investigative reporting with proactive engagement of its audience. Its website publishes rigorous debunking articles,as well as more in-depth analyses of disinformation trends. Users are encouraged to submit alerts via WhatsApp, social media, or email, helping the newsroom monitor emerging false narratives both in Italy and abroad. Facta also produces a weekly newsletter and a podcast, Veramente, exploring the impact of misinformation on society and public debate.

Beyond editorial work, Facta actively participates in international and European projects addressing disinformation and media literacy, including:

● EDMO (European Digital Media Observatory) and IDMO (Italian Digital Media Observatory), coordinating fact-checking networks and promoting national and EU-level codes of practice;
● HATEDEMICS, contributing to the development of AI-based tools to contrast hate speech and disinformation online;
● A Fuoco, a weekly newsletter on climate and disinformation, produced in collaboration with Slow News and Pagella Politica;
Facta also takes part in various initiatives in collaboration with Meta and TikTok for third-party fact-checking and media literacy programs.
Facta’s work is recognized in Italy and Europe for its rigor, independence, and impact. The platform contributes to equipping citizens with critical tools to navigate today’s complex information landscape, while fostering collaboration among fact-checkers, media organizations, and educational institutions.
