Data Desk is a non-profit investigative group founded at the end of 2022 by Sam Leon and Louis Goddard, who both previously worked on the data investigations team at Global Witness.

Its mission is to re-purpose commercial data on global supply chains — particularly for coal, oil and natural gas — to hold the industries that produce them accountable, usually through media publications.

In 2023, Data Desk worked on major investigations published in The Washington Post, Bloomberg, The Times of London, Le Monde, Der Spiegel, Politico and a number of local outlets.
