Sanja Kljajić is a correspondent for the German public broadcaster Deutsche Welle and a teaching assistant at the Department of Media Studies, Faculty of Philosophy, University of Novi Sad.
She began her career as a reporter for the news program of the regional public service broadcaster Radio-Television of Vojvodina, where she worked until 2016, when she resigned in protest against censorship. Since then, she has continued advocating for public service independence as one of the leading figures of the Support RTV (Podrži RTV) movement.
Sanja earned her bachelor’s degree in Journalism and master’s degree in Communication Studies at the University of Novi Sad, where she is currently pursuing a PhD. Her academic work primarily focuses on public service media and audience research.
She is also an experienced mobile journalist (MoJo) and has designed and conducted numerous training programs in MoJo, storytelling, and cross-platform journalism.
Sanja serves as vice president of the Independent Journalists’ Association of Serbia and is a member of the European Federation of Journalists’ Broadcasting Expert Group.
She is the recipient of the “Dušan Bogavac” Award for Ethics and Courage (2016), the EU Award for Investigative Journalism for her article on the emigration of healthcare workers, the National Award for Fair Reporting on Poverty and Social Exclusion (2023), and the “Mirdita, dobar dan” Festival Award for her documentary Albanian Women Are Our Sisters.
