Maribel Izcue is a journalist, co-founder and editor-in-chief of 5W Magazine.

She studied journalism at the University of the Basque Country and specialised in international relations and communication at the University of Madrid. She has spent most of her career in Asia, working as a correspondent for Agencia Efe in the Philippines, India and Japan for a decade. She also worked as Efe's Rome correspondent and collaborated with media outlets such as El Periódico de Catalunya. Maribel has covered social and environmental issues, including the impact of pollution in Asian megacities. She has also addressed issues such as migrant trafficking dynamics in Libya and the legal implications of hot returns in the European Union. She is the co-author of the documentary The Gourougou Trial.
