María Fernanda Romain is an Argentinian journalist based in Spain.

A journalist with a degree in Communication, she was born in Argentina. She has worked in the media for over a decade. She has worked for El Canciller, Crónica TV, El Destape, Reuters, Newtral and Maldita.es, among others.

She worked as a data journalist on Violentadas en Cuarentena, a cross-border investigation into gender-based violence against women during lockdown conducted in 19 Latin American countries, which won the 2020 One World Media Award. She was the regional editor of the investigation 'Los Derechos No Se Aíslan', which shared 24 stories about access to sexual and reproductive rights during the pandemic in Argentina, receiving an honourable mention at the Roche Awards by the Gabo Foundation. She directed the investigation 'Territorios y Resistencias', which told stories about the impact of the climate crisis in Argentina. This project was recognised by the provincial legislatures of Santa Fe and Chaco in Argentina and was awarded the Juana Manso Prize. She also directed 'Resistir en Verde', a cross-border investigation into the impact of the overturning of Roe v. Wade in the United States, Mexico, Argentina, Chile and Colombia.

She is a member of the Feminist Journalism Network in Argentina and leads Mujeres en la Foto (Women in the Photo), a project active in several countries that aims to highlight the underrepresentation of women in decision-making spaces.
