Manuel Bívar was born in Lisbon in 1985.
For 10 years he studied the forests of Guinea-Bissau in West Africa. He has written two novels: A Charca and Os Mamíferos, as Aves e os Peixes. He is currently working as a journalist for the Portuguese magazine Divergente, preparing a report and a podcast on forest arsonists. He has a degree in landscape architecture, a PhD in history and is a farmer.
