Juan David Escorcia Garcia is an environmental journalist who started his work in 2012, when he created Colombia’s first public radio show about climate change and protecting biodiversity.
Since then, he has worked with several organizations in Colombia and has covered important international events like COP21, the Climate Investment Funds meetings, and the Synod for the Pan-Amazon Region.
From 2022 to 2025, he collaborated as a professor at the Autonomous University of Barcelona and the Arab Academy for Science and Technology. He focused on environmental journalism and multimedia storytelling. In 2023, Juan David received an award from the Earth Journalism Network at the first Mediterranean Media Initiative for his reporting on noise pollution in the Mediterranean Sea.
In Spain, he writes stories about the loss of marine species in the Mediterranean, aluminosis in Barcelona buildings, and how literature influences migration stories in the city. He is also the creator of Carijonas, a podcast platform focused on environmental journalism.
