Joost Ramaer is an experienced Dutch freelance investigative journalist, specializing in the Dutch media market.

Alone and with Kim van Keken, he has published his stories in Vrij Nederland, Villamedia, Follow the Money and Apache. In the past, Joost was a fully employed reporter for the Dutch business magazine Quote (1986-1993) and national newspaper de Volkskrant, where he wrote on Economy & Business (1993-2003) and Arts & Culture (2003-2008).

Joost left the paper to write a book on how the Volkskrant’s publisher, PcM Uitgevers, let itself be plundered by a British private equity investor, Apax. De Geldpers (The Money Press) appeared in December 2009 to universal critical acclaim at Uitgeverij Prometheus.

Joost lives and works in Amsterdam.
