Ioana Pelehatăi works as an editor for the Romanian cultural publication Scena9.
Ioana has been writing for a living for half her life, since the tender age of 19.
She started out translating and writing TV scripts, moved on to property adverts and content marketing (beggars can't be choosers in a financial crisis), kept translating (mainly film scripts, but also theater plays and books), then discovered cultural journalism and even did a football podcast for a while.
She currently works as an editor for the Romanian cultural publication Scena9, which is published online daily and in an annual print edition. She has covered a wide range of topics, including LGBTQ+ rights, online culture and Eastern European current affairs. Most of her recent work has focused on Russia's full-scale invasion of Ukraine.
She survives on poetry, podcasts, caffeine and nicotine; in 2022, she adopted a cat from Ukraine that she loves dearly.
