Helena Spongenberg is a Danish journalist with 20 years of experience.

She has reported extensively on Europe and the European Union for outlets such as EUobserver and the Danish Public Broadcaster. Based in Barcelona, she has worked as a Spanish correspondent for major media entities and has lately also focussed on investigative freelancing, especially topics such as occupational health and public welfare.

Past affiliations include the Associated Press and Reuters, and she was shortlisted for the 2021 European Press Prize together with a team of other European journalists. Educated at the University of London, she is multilingual and technically skilled.
