Anna Surinyach from Spain, is a journalist, documentary photographer and graphic editor as well as being the co-founder of 5W.
Anna was a finalist in the Portrait Category of the 2024 Picture of the Year Competition. She has also won the Istanbul Photo Award, the Zampa Award, the Montserrat Roig Award and the Desalambre Award for Perseverance, which granted by eldiario.es.
She studied journalism at the Autonomous University of Barcelona and photography at the Polytechnic University of Catalonia. She has dedicated her career to documenting migration in various parts of the world. She has photographed displaced people in countries including South Sudan, the Central African Republic, Nigeria, Niger, Chad, Yemen and Syria. She has also documented migration routes from Central America to the United States and from Africa and the Middle East to Europe.
She has coordinated audiovisual projects for Médecins Sans Frontières, Intermón Oxfam and Expertise France. She has directed Misbah, a documentary focusing on the Pakistani diaspora in Barcelona, and #Boza, which was presented at the Málaga Film Festival and has travelled around the world.
She is a member of Women Photograph, a collective of photographers.
