Anna Košlerová

Anna Košlerová is Czech journalist based in between Prague and Edinburgh.

She works for the Czech public broadcaster Czech Radio and previously freelanced for the Guardian and AlJazeera, and has been following the stories of victims of forced sterilisation for six years. She is a BIRN Alumni.

Roma women have been fighting for justice for over twenty years. The government apologised for illegal sterilisations only in 2021, but to date has not passed any law on compensation.

Two States, One Common Injustice

BRATISLAVA/PRAGUE – The project "Two States, One Common Injustice: Uncovering the Legacy of Coercive Sterilisation of Roma Women" focused on investigating the different legal approaches to involuntary sterilisation of Roma women in the Czech Republic and Slovakia. The research confirmed that although coercive sterilisation took place on the territory of one state, the legislation dealing with compensation for victims was different.
