Andrei Ciurcanu is an investigative reporter working with OCCRP. He is also the president of Rise Project, the biggest investigative platform in Romania, part of the OCCRP platform.
After graduating Journalism in 2006, he worked as an investigative reporter in Romania for TV and written press.
Since 2006, Andrei has reported about organized crime groups, human and organ trafficking, corruption, environmental and social issues. A series of five environment investigations, that he coordinated and produced in 2018, about illegal logging and Natura 2000 Site destructions, were part of a complaint that eventually led Romania into the opening of an infringement procedure by the European Commission. He collaborated with media outlets like Al Jazeera, The Guardian, Arte.
He has received the Highly Commended Award/Best Investigation Report from Association for International Broadcasting (AIB - London) and Gold Award for Best Investigation at New York Film Festival.
