Alyaa Abo Shahba is an experienced journalist and trainer who has worked in several newspapers and websites including Rose Al-Youssef (as Assistant Editor-in-Chief), Al-Watan, Al-Tahrir, Masrawy, Islam Online, Al-Sawt Al-Hurr, International Journalists Network, Raseef22 and Daraj.

She has participated in many training courses, including with Reuters, Deutsche Welle, and the Arab Reporters for Investigative Journalism Network (ARIJ). Alyaa has received several journalistic awards, including the World Health Summit Award from the German Foreign Ministry, the "Journalism Without Stereotyping" Award organized by UN Women, the Mustafa and Ali Amin Award, the World Health Organization Award for Best Journalism Coverage of Antibiotic Resistance, the Plan International Award for Best Journalism Coverage on Girls, an award from the Africa21 Organization for Best Journalism Coverage on Biodiversity, the Cairo Climate Change Forum Award for Best Online Journalism Investigation from the German Embassy in Cairo, and the Writer Mohamed Salmawy Award for Journalism in Foreign Languages ​​from the Journalists Syndicate for the year 2022.

Alyaa has presented several training courses since 2015 at the Journalists Syndicate and at Cairo, Ain Shams and Al-Azhar Universities, the Egyptian Media Women Union, the Winifra Organization, the Rose Al-Youssef Academy for Training, and DW Academy.

She was chosen as a speaker about her journalistic career at UNESCO's celebration of World Press Freedom Day in 2024 in Chile. She has published a book (Stigma), which is a behind-the-scenes investigative report and human stories of people living with HIV.
