DESCRIPTION OF THE PROJECT
The project focuses on creating a new video explainer series that explores how Russia’s economy evolved into what it is today and the impact this has had on everyday life. Spanning three visually engaging episodes, we trace the country’s post-Soviet economic journey, from the collapse of the USSR to the oil boom of the 2000s, and the subsequent impact of sanctions following the annexation of Crimea. The series is aimed especially at younger Russian-speaking audiences and helps viewers understand that the current system was not built overnight, but over decades. By presenting economic history in an accessible and relatable way, we aim to promote a deeper awareness and foster media literacy and long-term critical thinking.
OBJECTIVES
The project aims to produce three 35-minute explainer videos on pivotal stages of Russia’s post-Soviet economic transformation. These videos will combine expert interviews, motion design and archival visuals. Short-form videos will also be created to engage younger audiences on platforms such as YouTube and Instagram.
