Altominho TV

ALTO MINHO - The primary target audience consists of residents in the Alto Minho region (regional or local) who consume our news content through our video content available on YouTube, social networks and our website. With the proposed mobile application, they aim to significantly expand and diversify their audience by specifically targeting younger demographics, including Gen Z and Millennials.

They are proposing the development of an innovative mobile news application to specifically engage younger audiences (Gen Z and Millennials) by delivering credible, locally relevant news in formats they prefer, thereby combating "news deserts" and strengthening media pluralism in our operational area.

Altominho TV currently publishes content via television and its website, with a strong focus on local and regional news in the Alto Minho region. Their mission is to create an exclusively online communication platform that connects various development agents in the Alto Minho region and disseminates all regional information in an accessible and free manner, thereby upholding democracy and fostering informed public discourse.

Goals (expected) of the project

Strengthened Local Media Pluralism: Fill the information vacuum in "news deserts" within Altominho TV's coverage area, providing access to credible local news and countering the spread of disinformation. Enhanced Civic Participation: Promote active citizen involvement in news consumption and discussion through interactive features, leading to greater scrutiny of local institutions and more informed public discourse. Improved Media Literacy: Empower users, especially young people, to discern reliable information and develop critical thinking skills in a digital.
