On Friday 24 March 2017, the European Centre for Press and Media Freedom, supported by the Council of Europe, will hold the conference “Promoting dialogue between the ECtHR and the media freedom community” in Strasbourg.
LEIPZIG – At the European Media Freedom Conference 2016 in early October the European Magazine Media Association (EMMA) and the European Centre for Press and Media Freedom (ECPMF) launched a Call for Action from Europe’s media sector to improve press freedom across the continent.
The ECPMF's second European Media Freedom Conference will take place on Thursday 6 and Friday 7 October 2016 in Leipzig.
On 1 July 2016 the conference '(R)evolution of Europe's Press' will be organised in Wroclaw, Poland, which will bring together top press freedom advocates from across Europe in order to discuss the political, economic and technological challenges that impact a free and independent press in Europe.
LEIPZIG - The European Centre for Press and Media Freedom (ECPMF) is launching its Journalists-in-Residence Programme. It provides a sanctuary, a scholarship, health insurance and a workplace for journalists who are threatened in their home country or who work under pressure.
BRUSSELS - In June 2015 Journalismfund.eu launched a call for a new grant programme focused on Freedom of Expression in collaboration with the ECPMF. 18 journalists or teams of journalists have applied for a so-called FoX grant.
BAKU - On 1 September 2015, investigative journalist Khadija Ismayilova, who has written numerous hard-hitting stories on corruption in Azerbaijan, was sentenced to seven years and six months in prison by the Azerbaijani authorities.
On 8th and 9th October, Europe’s top journalists, academics, media companies and politicians meet in Leipzig, Germany, at the European Media Freedom Conference 2015. The event is the first of its kind for the newly-established European Centre for Press and Media Freedom.
