News - Deadlines for European cross-border, Connecting Continents and FoX working grants
Monday August 17th - Connecting Continents
Connecting Continents, a pilot project by Journalismfund.eu in collaboration with Oxfam Novib, provides €100,000 for working grants for Sub-Saharan African journalists collaborating with European colleagues or vice versa.
Only intercontinental journalist teams consisting of at least one Sub-Saharan African and one European journalist are eligible to apply. Preference goes teams of which the African member(s) is/are working in DR Congo, Uganda, Nigeria or Mozambique, although others are also eligible. Focus should be on financial flows and governance.
Apply or find more information via www.conntinents.org.
Tuesday September 15th - European cross-border
These are Journalismfund.eu's regular cross-border working grants for professional journalists who have good ideas for cross-border research and for research on European affairs. The stories must be relevant for European target groups. The eligibility criteria are quite strict, so please read them carefully before applying.
Our Editor Europe Brigitte Alfter is available for advice via Skype on certain afternoons during the summer.
Apply or find more information via www.journalismfund.eu/apply.
Tuesday September 15th - Freedom of Expression
Freedom of expression, though guaranteed in all European constitutions, is under pressure in a lot of countries. The concentration of media ownership, the increasing surveillance of communication and other factors impede the free flow of information among European citizens.
If you know about a breach of freedom of expression in your country and need time and money to document it, you can apply for the Freedom of Expression Grant. The application deadline is September 15, 2015, at 11.59 pm Brussels time.
