News and articles on the Green Leaf (GL) website have been the main source of environmental information for residents of Odesa region since its since its launch in 2017.

Odessa public organisation "Green Leaf"
The public movement "Green Leaf" has been known to Odessans since 2015 and is a logical continuation of the environmental movement "GenProtest", created back in 2008 on the wave of mass dissatisfaction with high-rise development of the historical centre of Odessa and against the adoption of the predatory General Plan of the city.

"Green Leaf" is an open public organisation which unites around itself all those who are not indifferent to the living nature and for whom the green city Odessa as a place of comfortable living is not an empty sound. Who is used to the sycamore and maple trees on our streets, to the green slopes along the sea, to the free passage to the city beaches and who is determined to preserve the historical centre of Odessa with care. All this we want to leave for our children and grandchildren - yes, we are interested in the fact that the next generations in Odessa lived not in a concrete metropolis with numerous high-rise buildings and constant smog, but in an ecologically clean, green and comfortable for life European city.

The first European city leaders of Odessa considered it as a city of Enlightenment - that is, a convenient and reasonable policy for all Odessans. We want to preserve this. Therefore, "Green Leaf" is open to all concerned green activists and lovers of the history of our city and region.

Soviet Industrial Legacy Bringing Environmental Troubles For Moldova and Ukraine

  • Energy

DNESTROVSK – This project looks at the environmental issues caused by two industrial objects which both stem from the Soviet era, Moldovan Thermal Power Plant in the self-proclaimed Transnistrian Republic in Moldova, and a granite quarry in the floodplain of the beautiful Yuzhny Bug River, in the Nikolaev district of Ukraine.
